2008 Top-20 Countdown - No.20

After the success of last year's top-20 music albums countdown, Gone4Sure decided to get it going again this year. The participation has been outstanding: no less than 53 Greek bloggers unite to proclaim the best that 2008 gave us in music. My blog participates like last year and I hope that my readers get to find out lots of good new music along with me. So let's start:

Best albums of 2008 - No. 20

Klaus Schulze/Lisa Gerrard: Farscape

The Voice. Even if she sings the phone book, it would be enough for me to buy it, let alone sing (actually improvise in only one weekend) along the music of Klaus Schulze, ex-Tangerine Dream member and well known composer of electronic music. The result is breathtaking, almost angelic. Moving to a more optimistic sound then her last efforts, Lisa sounds more like the Dead Can Dance Lisa than her most recent efforts. The only reason this double CD does not reach perfection is it's repetitiveness, due to it's size. Maybe a drastic edit, limiting the music to one cd, would have been better. Schulz said he wanted the whole thing to be spontaneous. I cannot wait to see and listen to their live improvisations at the Lorelay, just released on double CD and DVD.
