What about the covers? no 16

For 2009 - The Ballet - Bear Life

I have no data for this one, the album is self-released and no information can be found on the group's website. It keeps up with previous artwork from their releases though. Quirky and fun like the group!

Doug Lloyd is the creative mastermind behind the look of this album. with photography by the talented and iconoclastic Terry Richardson, a bit of a strange choice for a major commercial pop star like Justin. Both artists were picked for their stylish but tough style of work. They are both names very familiar to fashion cognoscenti, with numerous ad campaigns and covers under their belt. The result is a very glamorous cover, a bit subversive (the discoball breaking) but safe enough for mass consumption. And Justin changes his image for good kid next door to major fashionista.

Top 20 Countdown - no.16

For 2009

No.16 - The Ballet - Bear Life

Whoa! What a great album these guys made! Their second one after Mattachine! finds them in a jolly good mood and crafting brilliant tunes, one after another. And they are still without a contract! Go to their website to download a track from the new album, the incredible House On Fire, and order the CD if you like it, or download it from iTunes.

This guy is maturing fast. Eerily fast. I love his respect to the golden age of soul/R&B from late 60's-early 70's. And disco. And whatever. I dare you to listen to one of his dance tunes and stay put.
